Many people turn to self-help guru’s for inspiration and guidance. It is great to feel good about ourselves and to feel motivated to get out there and make something of our lives. The problem is that much of the advice business owners are getting from many of these well meaning self-help guru’s just doesn’t work. Millions of people have read “Think and Grow Rich” and it seems that there are a lot of people doing a lot of thinking but not a whole lot of growing rich or successful. Are you someone that falls into that category? You can succeed in life! You just need to hear the truth and seek out mentors who can lead you in the direction of truth. Conventional self-help methodologies, of the past half century, have included techniques such as goal setting, dream building, self talk, visualization, daily affirmations and positive thinking. These things, in themselves, are not necessarily bad but they are mostly psychological quick fixes. When we use them, without knowing where true success comes from, we can cause irreversible damage in our lives. If we keep repeating the cycle, of emotional highs followed by failure, after a while we just stop reaching for that better life. Too many failures will cause us to believe we do not have success within us. Many people experience this cycle of failure as they move from one opportunity to the next, expecting their current opportunity will be better than the last. They do it until they have expended all their emotional energy and finally just give up and stop trying. So, what’s the answer? What is the truth?
The truth is that success comes from within us. It is a passion that is driven by knowing what it is that we really want in life. It is a desire that comes from our heart not our mind. Knowing what it is, in our heart, that we really want will provide us with an internal motivation. This internal motivation is far stronger than the external motivation we gain from the techniques being taught by so many self-help guru’s today.
“Your present negative beliefs were formed by thought
PLUS feelings. Generate enough emotion, or deep feeling
and your new thoughts and ideas will cancel them out. “
“If you have been wrestling with a problem all day without
making any apparent progress, try dismissing it from your
mind, and put off making a decision until you’ve had a
chance to ’sleep on it.’ Remember that your creative
mechanism works best when there is not too much
interference from your conscious
I am a firm believer in ‘negative thinking’ when used correctly. We need to be AWARE of negatives so that we can steer clear of them. A golfer needs to know where the bunkers and sandtraps are – but he doesn’t think continuously about the bunker – where he doesn’t want to go. His mind “glances” at the bunker, but he DWELLS upon the green. “
“Your nervous system cannot tell the difference between
an *imagined experience* and a ‘real’ experience.
In either case, it reacts automatically to information which
you give to it from your forebrain. Your nervous system
reacts appropriately to what you THINK or IMAGINE to be ‘true.
